Byung teaches the SAT, college admissions mentoring, Economics, Maths, and French. He is a Columbia University graduate with a BA in Economics and French Language and Literature, earning Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and French departmental honors and best thesis. He received a perfect score on the PSAT and 1570 SAT score (including a perfect 800 in the Math section). Before working as a college admissions mentor and academic tutor for more than six years, he worked for two years in private equity. Given his experience, he believes in a comprehensive, personalized approach to tutoring and has supported students to gain admissions to elite universities, such as Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, and many more. Byung seeks to share the methods and strategies to build confidence and achieve all the student’s academic and college goals. Outside of work, he has a genuine passion for travel and languages, having traveled to more than 50 countries and lived in more than ten of them. He has an advanced level in French and Korean, an upper-intermediate level in Russian and Serbian, and a lower-intermediate in Levantine Arabic. With an expert rating online in competitive chess, he is also a chess enthusiast.
