Meet Uju Kim

Uju teaches standardized test preparation, Math, Psychology, and Biology at primarily the high school level. With four years of volunteer tutoring experience and a passion for helping students grow, he specializes in making challenging subjects approachable and engaging. He particularly enjoys teaching math and biology, where he focuses on building strong foundational understanding and critical thinking. Graduating with honors in Neuroscience and a minor in Computer Science from Northwestern University, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and named to the Dean’s List every quarter in recognition of their academic excellence. He will begin his PhD in Neuroscience at Northwestern this fall, continuing research on how the hippocampus encodes abstract relationships, a project that earned him multiple research grants, an honors thesis, and an upcoming co-authored publication. Having scored a 1590 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT, Uju is highly familiar with standardized testing strategies and has helped students achieve significant score improvements. His tutoring philosophy prioritizes student agency by encouraging learners to ask questions, set goals, and take ownership of their progress. Whether working one-on-one or in group sessions, he is committed to creating a supportive and empowering learning environment.
