Owen Emmons teaches Chemistry, Environmental Science, Math, Physics, Biology, College Application work, and SATs to those of any academic background or level. While studying at Duke University towards a degree in Chemistry with a concentration in the environment as well as a minor in English and French. Coming from a very small and rural town, he didn't have a lot of assistance with schooling from any outside tutoring meaning that he is almost entirely self taught. He feels that this has allowed him to really understand the problems of students and how to effectively communicate information to them. Through almost entirely his own work he coached himself to a 1580 SAT, an AP score of 5 in Biology, Physics A, Environmental Chemistry, and English Composition without any actual classes taken. On top of this he scored a 5 on AP Chemistry, Calculus, English Literature, World History, US History, and Statistics while taking the class in high school. On top of Duke University his hand crafted and written applications got him into Stanford and Dartmouth, leading him to go on to both provide college application assistance as well as SAT tutoring in the past leading students to their dream schools and to a 200+ point increase in their scores on the SAT. He currently works in the Welsher Lab at Duke University working on high speed microscopy and will intern this summer at FleurChem as an chemical sustainability consultant. In his free time he also likes photography, to read books, exercise, paint, help out with his ski club.
