We select two or three tutors
A person on our team reviews the submission and selects tutors whose own ACT scores and section strengths are a strong fit. If your student's Science score is the limiting factor, we prioritize tutors with strong Science section results and experience working that specific passage format.

First session for $50
The first session is a 60-minute diagnostic: the tutor works through your student's most recent practice test, identifies the section-level patterns that are costing points, and builds a starting plan. You pay $50. If you move into a package within 48 hours, that $50 is credited.

Adjust if the match is wrong
If the tutor isn't the right fit, for any reason, let us know and we reassign. There's no penalty and no waiting period.
What an online ACT tutoring session covers
Sessions are 60 minutes, one-on-one, conducted over video with a shared screen. The ACT has four separately timed sections: English (45 minutes, 75 questions), Mathematics (60 minutes, 60 questions), Reading (35 minutes, 40 questions), and Science (35 minutes, 40 questions). Tutors don't treat them identically, because they're not the same problem.
The ACT is paper-based and time-pressure is the most common limiting factor across all four sections. Tutors work on passage-level pacing strategy, not just content. A student who understands the material but runs out of time on Reading or Science needs a different intervention than one who is missing Math questions on content.

What to look for when you hire an online ACT tutor
Most families are comparing options when they reach this page. These are the criteria that actually predict whether a tutoring match will produce a score change.
Verify the tutor's ACT score by section, not just composite
A 36 composite tells you the overall number. What matters for your student is whether the tutor is strong in the specific section holding the score back. A Math specialist whose Reading score was 33 is a different fit than a tutor who scored 36 Reading with experience on the tricky paired passage sets.
Check when the tutor last took the ACT
The ACT format has remained largely stable, but passage difficulty and question distribution have shifted. A tutor who sat the test within the last three to four years knows what current students are actually facing.
Ask what the first session produces
A diagnostic that results in a section-level plan covering timing, question-type prioritization, and practice schedule is worth the session fee. A diagnostic that produces a vague recommendation to "practice more" is not.
Understand the bad-match policy before you pay
Some platforms charge rebooking fees or tie you to a specific tutor through a package. Ask explicitly: if the match is wrong, what happens? The answer should cost you nothing.
Consider whether private tutoring is the right tool
If your student's composite is 27 and the target is 29, and they have ten weeks to work consistently through official ACT tests, self-study might get them there. Private tutoring earns its cost when the gap is larger, the timeline is shorter, or a specific section has not responded to self-study.
