What Grade 12 students are actually working through

Math in Grade 12 commonly means AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, or for students who have completed the standard AP Calculus sequence, a dual-enrollment or IB Higher Level math course. The conditional offer and why Grade 12 grades still matter

Many families treat an acceptance letter as the endpoint of academic pressure. It isn't. A significant grade drop in a core subject, or a failing grade in any Grade 12 course, is enough for some schools to contact the student, delay enrollment, or in serious cases rescind the offer. "Significant" typically means a drop of one full letter grade or more in a subject directly related to the student's intended program.

The most common version of this problem isn't dramatic. It's a student who coasts through second semester after receiving an offer, loses the habits that produced the first-semester grades, and ends up in a tense exchange with an admissions office over a transcript that doesn't match what they promised.
